Politics, Hollywood & Genealogy

Here is a great article  that could lead to some very interesting conversations at the water cooler.

Angelina Jolie is related to Hillary Clinton, and her beau is related to none other than Obama.  You must read this to see who else is part of the family!

Websites

These websites are free and extremely useful!

FamilySearch

A great source for research tools ( the very useful Research Guides are a fantastic tool for genealogists of all levels) .

This is still being rolled out, extremely useful to members of the LDS faith.

A beta site that  shows, “the future tools to dig up the past.” It’s fun to see what is coming down the road, interesting posts/blogs as well. I love the “Life Browser” concept.

Another beta site, with this one you are able to search records in an easy and quick manner.  Sometimes doesn’t work as updates are made to the content or program itself.  They encourage feedback so they can make it even more like what we want.

Just like wikipedia but for genealogists.  Very useful when so many great minds come together!

Help index records that eventually get posted (always avaible for free at familysearch.org and piolt.familysearch.org).  You download a document transcribe it and then send it back, it’s that easy. Although it’s hard to imagine it is fun, and calming!! Many have said it is addicting.  Don’t fret about the pressure of getting it perfect, another person does the same document  as you and then an arbuiter confirms accuracercy, making therecords some of the most accurately transcribed to date.

References/ Resources:

The website for genealogy links, if it isn’t on Cindy’s list it may not exsist.

Easily read blog which gives interesting and important up dates in the genealogical world.

www.usgenweb.org

Very useful site if you need help obtaing documents from another area or state. Volunteers find your information and send it back to you, generally for the cost of postage and copies.
